Nowadays, peppermint is mostly used, which was cultivated in 1696 in the garden of an English gardener. It is essentially a hybrid of two types of mint, namely Mediterranean spearmint (Menta spicata) and native water mint (Menta aquatica).
Our mint is a French variety, which is divinely aromatic and has a wonderfully fresh taste. Cut mint has a more intense aroma and taste than whole leaves, because in addition to the surface of the leaves, the essential oils are leached into hot water through the cut edges. For iced tea, you can mix peppermint with green tea or fruit, and the infusions are also pleasantly fresh.
