Teas

All types of tea come from the same plant—the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). Tea plants are shrubs with evergreen, ribbed leaves that grow on short branches.

Tea plants are grown in tropical to subtropical plantations and prefer slightly acidic soil at an altitude of 1,000 to 2,500 meters. Altitude affects the size of the shrub, but also the quality of the tea; the higher the altitude, the smaller the shrub, but the higher the quality of the tea.
